It's often important to be able to report on grades from a specific term or marking period, and students often expect their grades to "reset" with each new grading cycle. On the other hand, marking periods and terms are artificial constructs in schools that have little to do with the actual learning process and thus it may make sense to report on grades "cumulatively" over the course of a year or "career."
JumpRope has a tool that help you (as the teacher or school) decide which behavior you'd like to use, and even to get the best of both worlds.
To "reset" grades at each term, simply set the dates for assessments to fall only within the desired term or marking period. Then, when you are running a master report you can pull grades for each term separately or for all terms / grading periods by changing the date range on the mastery reports:
You can learn more about how date ranges work in JumpRope in this article: http://support.jumpro.pe/hc/en-us/articles/200052395-Date-Ranges-in-JumpRope
By setting the appropriate date ranges for Mastery Reports, each teacher in school can effectively decide whether student grades for a term or marking period should be isolated to the current term or cumulative.
