Many schools use PowerSchool in addition to JumpRope either because PowerSchool is provided/required by their state or district or because they use functions of PowerSchool that JumpRope does not provide (such as lunch management and purchasing). Instead of maintaining student records manually in JumpRope, we recommend that any schools that store student records and schedules in PowerSchool follow these instructions to set up automatic & secure synchronization of student schedules to JumpRope. It will take a few minutes to set up initially, but when complete you schedule and students will automatically synchronize once each night and on demand whenever required!
Setting Up PowerSchool->JumpRope Synchronization
- Make sure that you have indicated to JumpRope (via the Admin Console or via our support system) that you would like to synchronize data with PowerSchool. When complete, we will provide you with a login and a password to our SFTP synchronization server.
- Log into the PowerSchool Admin interface as you normally would. Often, you can do this by visiting http://{your_school}.powerschool.com/admin or the web address that you typically log in with. JumpRope cannot help you with your username or password to PowerSchool - you'll have to contact Pearson if you run into trouble logging in.
- First, we need to tell PowerSchool how to connect securely to JumpRope via a Managed Connection.
- Click System in the menu at left: http://screencast.com/t/tXLwYG3aK0q
- Scroll down and click on System Settings: http://screencast.com/t/tXLwYG3aK0q
- Select Plugin Management Configuration: http://screencast.com/t/OMXtpSdl
- Enable and select the Remote Connection Manager: http://screencast.com/t/k2lSiIhtt
- Click on Remote Connection Manager once again: http://screencast.com/t/L5EM0ebKR5bJ
- Click on Create Connection: http://screencast.com/t/HVWv698D2DbC
- Carefully fill out the fields as shown in this screenshot: https://goo.gl/Fu4Aay. If you are setting this up for multiple schools and have been provided separate FTP credentials for each school, please be sure to adjust the "Name" field to also include the name of the school. You'll need one managed connection per school.
- Name: JumpRope SFTP
- Protocol: SFTP
- Host: sync2015.jumpro.pe
- Port: 22
- Username: as provided by JumpRope
- Password: as provided by JumpRope
- Click on Test Connection, and "Yes, Accept Host Key" if prompted with a failure warning (see screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/WWkS4Cq9U)
- Remote Path: jumprope_imports/
- Allow download: check the box
- Allow upload: check the box
- Click on submit. You should see a screen that looks similar to this: http://screencast.com/t/YNUaU93z1R
- Now that we have a secure connection set up, we need to tell PowerSchool which files to send and when to send them.
- Click System in the menu at left: http://screencast.com/t/tXLwYG3aK0q
- Select AutoSend Setup: http://screencast.com/t/MDKaSlqE
- Click on New (ignore any existing AutoSend configurations): http://screencast.com/t/DcOYF73q7I
- We now need to create five separate AutoSend configurations (one for each of Courses, Sections, Student Schedules, Students, and Teachers). Each configuration is similar, but we'll walk through each separately.
- ***Important*** Note that all autosends that you will set up below will indicate 3:00 AM for "When to Execute". The time that you choose to execute these is up to you, but be aware of anything else that may be running on your server overnight and keep that in mind when setting up the times. We recommend that you stagger the times of the 5 autosends below so that they run 15-30 minutes apart, beginning no earlier than 10 PM and completing no later than 6 AM. If too many items are scheduled at once, your autosends may fail.

- Almost done! Verify that your AutoSend screen now looks similar to this (it's okay if there are additional AutoSend configurations that are unrelated to JumpRope, but we need all five of these): http://screencast.com/t/iYQeMZ0twl1. Verify that you have clicked Run Now at least once for each configuration and that it has completed without warning. If everything looks good, please contact support@jumpro.pe and we will double-check the configuration on our end and let you know if you need to take any additional steps.
Great work! If you run into any trouble during this process, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team!
Depending on your school's exact needs, JumpRope also supports exporting overall course grades for import back into PowerSchool for purposes of transcripts, etc. We recommend that JumpRope remains the primary database for mastery-based data (PowerSchool doesn't support the same sophisticated mastery-based features as JumpRope, so you lose a lot of detail trying to push standards-level data back to PowerSchool). We also recommend that you use JumpRope's advanced Student & Parent Portal for real-time grade access. In this setup, PowerSchool essentially serves as a state-reporting and credit-accumulation system while JumpRope is the primary gradebook. If you're interested in enabling this integration, contact JumpRope support.
