If your school takes attendance during multiple periods throughout the day (i.e. at a middle or high school), JumpRope can help reduce errors in attendance entry by examining patterns throughout the day and warning teachers when they should double check. You can enable this feature for your school from the Admin Console as shown below:
The logic is as follows:
- If a student is marked present/tardy during at least two previous periods on the current day (i.e., is present 1st and 2nd period) and a teacher marks a student as absent during a later period (i.e. period 3), JumpRope will pop up to ask the teacher to verify.
- If a student is marked absent during at least two previous periods on the current day (i.e., is absent 1st and 2nd period) and a teacher marks a student as present during a later period (i.e. period 3), JumpRope will pop up to ask the teacher to verify.
According to our research over several years of attendance records, these two scenarios could cut down on teacher mistakes by as much as 80%!
In addition to warning the teacher to verify, an attendance comment is added to the record noting that the teacher was warned to double-check. Finally, an option is given to the teacher in scenario 2 (where the student may be cutting) to generate a comment to the student's advisor automatically.
As always please reach out to support@jumpro.pe if you have any feedback!
